For the last 22 years “Open House London” celebrates London’s the largest festival of architecture and design. it is a city-wide celebration of the buildings, places, and neighbourhoods where we live and work. What’s on the menu, an interesting no nonsense new opening is Padella in Southwark St, near Borough Market,  best described as no reservations Pasta bar but with truly splendid food, you can see the pasta being made in front of you, reasonably priced and I adored the Pappardelle with Italian Fennel Sausage Ragu.

Covent Garden’s new arrival is Frenchie (not the bull dog) nick name for the French acclaimed chef Gregory Marchand who owns a Parisian Bistro that has a 6 month waiting list. Easily explained menu items convert into totally delicious food.  A particular dessert I can suggest is the Bitter Sweet Chocolate Ice cream with bacon Ice cream, I know this has been tried before but it works!

Back to the Classics, my recent experience at the American Bar at the Stafford Hotel was like taking a trip back in time in an Olde English country house in the heart of St James, great Martinis and they serve their own brewed ale, quirkily decorated with ties, models planes amongst other things it’s an experience….

New Scientist Live at ExCel from 22nd September for 4 days and provides a festival full of ideas and discovery from the team behind the world’s most popular science weekly magazine.

Brazil day is on the 10th September from noon at Trafalgar Square and hosted by the Embassy of Brazil. There will be music and dancing food and drink on offer.

Want to get out of the city then consider going to the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival held in the historic Snape Maltings in Suffolk this has to be on of the best food festivals in the country.  There are over 80 food and drink stalls with famous chefs galore and after the success of the Olympics for Team GB you can also witness the 2nd World Pickled Egg Championship, now what else can you ask for.  From the 26th September for 2 weeks.
