News in November XX

Brr its cold out there, enjoy the last month of autumn before winter arrives but it does bring some great events.

The arrival of November means the Winter festival begins at the Southbank centre until the end of January, the popular Christmas Market will be there again.  And YES WINTER WONDERLAND is back and in its 10th year from the 18th November in Hyde Park, this is a must see with a new addition the Nutcracker on Ice  on a frozen stage with the Imperia Ice Stars but book this in advance as I think this will be popular. In this month November, in 1434 the river Thames actually froze.

The Tower of London Ice rink Open on the 16th of November and opens daily at 11.00am. Skate against an iconic backdrop Set within the grounds of the Tower of London, enjoy the thrill of skating or relax with a cup of Hot Chocolate and soak in the atmosphere.

Christmas Lights are being illuminated and my 2 favourites are Regent St, they get switched on the 17th November and Bond St on the 10th November.  But for a real treat head over to Kew Gardens because from the 23rd November there will be a mile long trail lit up with over 60,000 lights, it’s a  truly magical experience.

A must see for November is the BP Exhibition: Sunken Cities Egypt’s lost worlds at the British

Museum. Submerged under the sea for over a thousand years, two lost cities of ancient Egypt were recently rediscovered. Their story is told for the first time in this blockbuster exhibition. On till the 27th of November.

Its food time…

On an amusing separate note “you know the restaurant has a clown as a chef when the food tastes funny.” But not these 2 below.

Time for 2 amazing spots.  Try “Foleys” in Fitzrovia’s Foley St, originally a Shepherds Bush Pop up it now has a permanent home here, best described as very international cuisines and vegetarian are well catered for also.  One other to tempt you is “Street XO” in Mayfairs Old Burlington St, what’s the interest, we the chef David Muñoz,3 Michelin starts in Madrid for “Diver XO”  Street Xo  is more fun and casual dining but he is soooo very creative I think there will be something for everyone.

What are you doing on the 12th November?  Well I know the Lord Mayor of London is busy as it’s the Lord Mayors Show held between 11am and 2.30pm, we are expecting a half a million people to line the streets and join in the fun.

The other side of Hadrian’s Wall will be celebrating St Andrews Day on the 30th November

With so much to do this month I end with a quote from Henry Kissinger, “There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.”
